Crab Rangoon is sort of a dumpling that is very popular in American Chinese restaurants. They have crispy wrapping filled with delicious crab, along with scallions and cream cheese. If you have cold leftover Crab Rangoon at home and wondering what to do with them, we’re here to help you. We’ll show you how you can reheat them back to life using several methods.

We’ll go over each method step-by-step, so read until the end!

What is the Best Way to Reheat Crab Rangoon?

There are several ways you can reheat your crab rangoons. Each method is different from one another in terms of time taken, how well it reheats, etc. Moreover, you also have to consider which method is accessible for you.

These are the methods that you can use to reheat your leftover crab rangoons:

Oven:

The oven is a great method to reheat your crab rangoon. Among all the other methods, this will preserve the same amazing flavors. While it may not maintain the exact same crispy exterior, it will not leave your crab rangoons soggy.

The first thing you should do is defrost your crab rangoons if you’ve left them in the freezer. Once that is done, you can move on to the next step, which is to preheat the oven to 350°F. Wrapping them in aluminum foil will help retain the moisture and prevent them from drying up.

Once everything is ready, you can place them in the oven for a good 5 to 7 minutes. The next step is to take them out and remove the aluminum foil. For a crisp exterior, place them again in the oven and heat them up for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.

Air-Frying:

Air-frying is the best way to reheat your crab rangoons if you want to bring back the crispiness of the outer covering. It is a fairly quick method as well. If you love crunchy crab rangoon, you should consider getting an air fryer.

As always, defrost your crab rangoon if you’ve frozen them. And while that happens, preheat the air fryer to 350°F. The next step is simply placing your crab rangoons inside the air fryer. Reheating them for a good 5 minutes should do the job. However, if you’re not satisfied after 5 minutes, you can reheat again for about 2 to 3 minutes.

Microwaving:

Microwaving your cold leftover crab rangoons will definitely be the fastest way to reheat them. However, that does not mean you’ll get good results. You should only microwave if you’re out of time or if you don’t care about the crunchy texture. That’s because microwaving any crunchy food usually takes away the crispy texture and leaves the food soggy.

Before you start microwaving, you will need a microwave-safe dish. Now place your crab rangoons on the plate and spread them out. You don’t want them touching each other. This will leave space for moisture to escape so that the texture isn’t too soggy.

Now turn on the microwave at medium heat and leave them inside for approximately 40 to 60 seconds. Make sure to flip them in between as well. Once they are done, you can check for the temperature. If it’s not up to the mark, reheat for 30 seconds again in the microwave.

Reheating on the Stove:

Reheating crab rangoons can also bring back the crispy texture. However, it takes a little more time and can be a bit messy.

Turn on your stove at medium heat and place a pan on it. Now add a tablespoon of oil and let it warm up. Once the oil is hot enough, place the crab rangoon in the pan while keeping some distance between them. Stir them slowly and cook for about 5 minutes. Make sure that it’s crispy on all sides and also warm on the inside.

How to Properly Store Leftover Crab Rangoon

If you want to get the best results after reheating your crab rangoon, it’s important to know how to store them.

To keep them fresh for as long as possible, you need to refrigerate them as soon as you can. Ideally, you should put them in the fridge within 2 hours.

If stored properly, your crab rangoons will be fine for up to 3 days. However, if you’ve left them out on the table for more than a couple of hours, it’s best to throw them out.

Defrosting Crab Rangoons the Right Way

If you want to reheat your crab rangoons, you’ll have to defrost them first. For that, you will have to take them out of the freezer about 12 hours in advance.

Just remove them from your freezer and relocate them to your fridge to thaw. Once the icy particles disappear, you can begin with the reheating process.
